Position: Cloud Engineer

Position Summary
- Cloud Engineer will be responsible for performing Cloud Engineering duties such as Cloud readiness
- assessments, AWS architecture design, system evaluation, system analysis, AWS
- Infrastructure Operations, Optimization and Maintenance, Change and Configuration Management
- Support, Release, Control and Validation of Cloud Infrastructure Deployment and Migration and
- infrastructure assessment. The cloud engineer shall perform duties on tasks that require expertise
- in AWS/system/processor architecture, client/server architecture, operating systems, software
- applications, network protocols, routers, switches, remote access servers, and firewalls.
What makes a successful Cloud Engineer?
Cloud Engineer will define, create, and maintain fully functional cloud architectures. Advise on the
adoption of a cloud environment and support its institutionalization across the organization. Support
migration, modernization, networking, security, compliance and accreditation, and O&M.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, architect, maintain, and operationalize systems on the AWS cloud, while providing
- technical support and developing innovative solutions in alignment with business objectives.
- Evaluate, test, design, develop, and integrate new cloud technologies and processes to support
- existing infrastructure and modernization efforts and provides recommendations for future
- technologies and capacity growth
- Maintain Infrastructure in optimal configuration from both technical and budgetary perspectives
- Provide Functional Escalation Support and Expertise to the Incident Management Processes
- involving AWS Infrastructure or related issues
- Provide input and guidance to Personnel and Cloud Architects/SMEs to the overall AWS Enclave
- Compose and leverage AWS CloudFormation Templates for utilization, to ensure repeatable,
- sustainable AWS infrastructure is effectively managed
- Deploy, test and document development, pre-production, and production environments
- Create Amazon VPC resources such as subnets, network access control lists, and security groups
- Perform Operations and Maintenance (O&M), support architecture and security teams,
- architecture design, system evaluation, system analysis, and infrastructure assessment
- Work directly with assigned system owners and development teams to address cloud issues,
- monitor architecture of assigned systems, provide user access management using zScaler, Okta,
- Kion, and Active Directory/AD ManageEngine, provide OS/Network-layer support for tenant
- systems, and utilize Jira to track tickets to closure
- Leverage resource tagging to allocate costs and optimize resource planning
- Perform Cloud migrations and documentation, create gold images / AMIs and employ auto scaling
- Assist in preparing cost analysis based on expected usage
- Configure multi-factor authentication on virtual and hardware devices
- Maintain availability of critical AWS Cloud infrastructure and improve operational capabilities of
- AWS Enclave as approved and directed
- Investigating reported and suspected outage issues, documenting issue, resolution, maintaining
- knowledge base of known issues
- Review and enhance documentation, tenant handbooks, owner’s manual, run books, known
- issues knowledge bases, log defects
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient at prioritization, multi-tasking, and proactive in work responsibilities

Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in related discipline AND
- Minimum Experience: 4 years including a cloud certification OR
- Substitution/Alternative to Minimum Education and Experience: Must have at least 6 years of on the job
- Certifications: Must have an AWS Solutions Architect Associate and/or Professional
- Must be a US Citizen
- Proficient in scripting including Python, Bash, CloudFormation, Terraform
- Hardworking and self-motivated, with the ability to work in team and individual settings
- Detail-oriented and able to stand behind the quality of the work
- Able to learn quickly on the job in a changing environment
- Can generate proficient documentation using the Microsoft Office suite
- Understand, interpret and communicate level of effort, define due dates, and meet deadlines
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
- Active Clearance or Public Trust
- AWS Professional, and/or Specialty Certifications including but not limited to – Solutions Architect, DevOps, Security
- Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating system
- Advanced troubleshooting skills
- Possess and maintain a deep understanding of IaaS and PaaS services offered on cloud
platforms and understand how to use them to design solutions for complex business problems
- Experience with AWS CloudWatch and other automation services
- Maintain account documentation, such as architecture diagrams and portal links.
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and analytical skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
- Experience with CloudFront, DataDog / Splunk monitoring, and AD ManageEngine
