What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Engineer I position at Artivion?
Advance the development of novel medical devices from initial concept through in vivo characterizations. The position will focus on the prototyping, characterization, testing, and refinement of subcomponents of medical devices.
Responsibilities:
Design and Development New Medical Products:
- Utilize SolidWorks to convert concepts into detailed engineering drawings of new medical devices and subassemblies
- Generate prototypes using additive or subtractive manufacturing strategies
Develop experimental testing strategies, protocols, and systems:
- Define physical and mechanical testing studies to advance the understanding of current concepts
- Construct test setups and systems to obtain testing data on device components
- Author protocols for the characterization of device components
Qualifications:
Required:
- BS Degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering
- 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience
- Basic knowledge of New Product Development and Design Controls
- Basic knowledge of mechanical testing, biomaterials, devices, and tissue biomechanical testing preferred.
- Exemplary verbal, technical, and written communication skills
- Strong SolidWorks experience
Desired:
- Experience developing in vitro, in situ, in vivo, and ex vivo tests and experiments with medical devices
- Statistical data analysis, Minitab knowledge preferred
- Experience designing and developing mechanical, thermal, and biomechanical test methods
- Basic electronics and circuits knowledge
- Computer programming experience and limited experience interfacing hardware and software for medical devices
