Job Overview
The Assistant House Manager is responsible for assisting the House Manager with Front of House Management and has Exceptional Customer Service. The Assistant House Managerworks in ensuring facility and staff readiness for event patrons; implementing and enforcing house policies and procedures; and maintaining a top-quality patron-focused environment.
The areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: Plan, organize, and oversee customer-facing operations to ensure a well-organized, efficient, patron-focused environment. Must have the ability and willingness to work a non-routine schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Core Responsibilities
- Assist the House Manager with public performances.
- Make sure all tables and chairs are in their proper place and that each table has specified marketing collateral, centerpiece, and table number displayed.
- Maintain personal preparedness for emergency situations such as fire, power outage, evacuation, medical emergencies, and other extraordinary circumstances.
- Manage Arts Garage staff and Volunteer emergency procedure training, implementation, and enforcement; respond to patron emergencies.
- Assist the House Manager with front of house event operations and staff, demonstrating exceptional customer service skills and ensuring provision of consistent, “above and beyond” staff service to patrons.
- Resolve patron seating and ticketing issues during events.
- Implement and enforce house management policies and procedures; exercise good judgment in promptly and authoritatively resolving problems and complex situations; authorize exceptions to policy as appropriate.
- Monitor lobbies, theaters, and other public areas to ensure proper set-up and appearance.
- Attend weekly leadership meetings and contribute to discussions about engagement activities, lobby displays, general overview of weekend performances, and any suggestions for improvement in operational procedures.
- Engage in helping to clean, change table cloths, empty garbage receptacles, and make sure that the band has begun to exit the venue.
- Make sure the greenroom is returned to normal and all trash is removed and all the furniture is in its proper place.
- Train and advise staff and new volunteers on scanner operations (cell phone and ticket scanner)
Position Type/Expected Hours
- Position requires nights and weekends (Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays).
- May be requested for occasional weekdays on an as needed basis and will be discussed in advance of the shift.
