ArtsRiot is seeking a Passionate, creative, craft beverage-oriented, hospitality-driven, motivated and organized Lead Bartender to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the rebirth of ArtsRiot, an iconic Burlington bar and event space located in the beating heart of the South End Arts District.

Working in partnership with the General Manager and Service Team, our Bartenders are responsible for meeting the ArtsRiot high hospitality standards with craft beverages, and organization, maintenance and cleanliness with equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Leading the team with amazing, enthusiastic, engaged customer service temperament and skillset

• Create and craft house cocktails and collaborate with canned cocktails team

• Assist General Manager in closing duties nightly.

• Clean glasses and bar utensils throughout your shift

• Make suggestions based on customer tastes and preferences

• Create a positive, friendly atmosphere and build a rapport with regular customers

• Verify identification and age requirements of customers

• Process payment from customers; record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits

• Actively communicate verbally with coworkers and supervisors throughout your shift, and by filling out orders and paperwork

• Maintain TIPS (or approved alternative) certification

• Coordinate with AR staff and security to identify and respond to safety and / or security concerns with special attention and concern for potentially impaired guests

• Set up and break down the bar areas as outlined in the Opening/Closing procedures

• Assist with special events and staff meals

• Sanitize work surfaces routinely, wash hands properly, and use cross contamination best practices and COVID protocols

• Always use ‘first in first out’ (FIFO) when pulling from supply inventory

• Handle additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Passionate about hospitality and taking care of AR guests and being part of that great experience

• Passionate about beverages and hospitality

• Knowledge of craft beers and a talent for educating AR guests and inviting them to experience great beers

• Knowledge of craft (and traditional) cocktails and that same talent for educating AR guests

• Experienced with Point of Sale (POS) systems, cash and credit transaction processing

• Work well both with the team, and independently

• Can multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

• Show professionalism and good judgement—poised with guests and coworkers

• Driven by a commitment to creating excellent products and great service

• Dependable and consistently on time

• Available to work weekends and weekdays, nights and mornings

Required

• Be able to stand continuously and occasionally carry heavy loads

• Be able to handle exposure to cold, heat and water

• Experienced in handling and maintaining bar and kitchen equipment

• Knowing and understanding food health and safety state regulations a plus
