What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Safety Manager position at Asarco LLC?
POSITION OVERVIEW
Provide general guidance and direction for the organization's Safety and Worker's Compensation matters, ensuring legal compliance and effectiveness by establishing and monitoring policies and standards with all ASARCO, MSHA, OSHA, State, and other regulatory agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Responsible for the effectiveness and results of the safety efforts of the organization dealing with the TSCP (Total Safety Culture Program).
B. Provide general guidance and direction for the organization's Safety and Worker's Compensation matters, ensuring legal compliance and effectiveness by establishing and monitoring policies and standards.
C. Ensures compliance with federal and state EEO laws and regulation.
D. Monitor and coordinate the Safety activities of the Asarco properties to ensure legal compliance.
E. Provide general guidance in all legal matters pertaining to MSHA, OSHA and State issues.
F. Define and implement training programs on Safety and WC matters for the organization.
G. Establish and monitor standards, guidelines and performance standards on Safety and WC and monitor compliance.
H. Review, analyze and recommend WC compliance based on performance and cost.
I. Coordinate and monitor WC activities of TPA's for closed Plants and Asarco properties.
J. Interact with Asarco properties on regulatory compliance issues including legal review or appeals. This includes conferencing and litigating issues at a federal level.
K. Closely track the cost of WC for all of Asarco properties and take action to reduce it.
L. Functioning as an advance level specialist on safety, health and regulatory matters.
M. Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
Provide safety statistical data required monthly and yearly by ASARCO/Grupo Mexico

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
Usual office environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing. Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery. Oral and auditory.
