MINE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I, II
POSITION OVERVIEW
Plan, schedule and implement the daily mine surveying activities at Silver Bell Mine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Export designs from Mine planning software into Trimble Business Center into Trimble Data Collector for field work.
· Perform daily blast hole sampling.
· Assist in uploading pattern designs into the high precision drill systems.
· Surveys and establishes controls in and out of the pit.
· Assist in delineating ore/waste splits and staking controls in field.
· Establish elevation control at mining faces, haulage roads, and dump locations.
· Assist in layout waste dumps limits, haul roads, designs and maintain accurate progress maps.
· Assist Engineers with Monthly Close Surveys.
· Assist all departments on survey projects as needed.
· Assist in deployment of new surveying technologies.
· Drone piloting for surveying and imagery.
· Participate in the continuous improvement of practices and procedures in the Engineering Department.
· Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
· Maintain required training in environmental awareness.
· Maintain required training in safety and health awareness including MSHA requirements.
· Maintain survey supply of paint, sampling tags, stake-chasers, stakes, and flagging.
· Assist Geologist in field duties, exploration drilling, etc.
· Fill in and assist with engineering duties as needed.
· Enter and post data for monthly report.
· Wash and Maintain Trucks.
· Participate in and lead department safety meetings.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Strong interpersonal skills in developing consensus building.
· Must have excellent computer skills with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
· Working knowledge of Trimble-GPS equipment and software.
· Must be able to manage time effectively and set priorities.
· Requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
· Must have valid driver’s license.
· Must be able to deal with high stress and the elements.
· Must be able to perform fieldwork, lift 50lbs, and walk over rough terrain, sit, stand, bend, climb stairs/ladders.
· Must be willing to work after scheduled shift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· One (1) year of college or Technical School in a related field (preferred).
· One (1) year survey experience in mining or construction environment (preferred).
