Job Summary

 

The Facilities Manager is responsible for security, maintaining the company’s critical high volume laboratory facilities, offices, and associated mechanical and electrical systems. This position manages in-house facilities staff, as well all outside contractors and vendors hired to maintain systems.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Manages and directs work for the overall maintenance of building, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, alarm, landscaping and parking areas.
  • Ensures 100% uptime for utilities supporting automation systems throughout the laboratory and warehouse operations.
  • Works with instrument vendors to ensure proper systems are in place, and overall site readiness.
  • Manages preventive maintenance of facility equipment including DI water systems, compressed gas distribution systems, air compressors, generators and UPS systems.
  • Responsible for the procurement and management of all vendor maintenance agreements.
  • Oversees several facilities across multiple states.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, facility expansion and modifications.
  • Plans budgets and performs facility audits.
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to optimize effectiveness and reduce expenditure.
  • Inspects progress of any construction, maintenance or installations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or work related discipline, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience and responsibility in facilities management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment and facility maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Experience with RFP process and vendor management.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to identify and recognize unsafe conditions or work practices and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to physically bend, reach and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Requires local travel between locations as well as occasional overtime or on-call work as needed.
