Payroll Specialist Job Description
Job Overview
Seeking an experienced payroll specialist to work with multiple clients. Position is responsible for payroll administrative tasks, processing payroll, paying taxes and filing quarterlies. Each client’s payroll is tailored to their specific needs – which may range from a client with an owner draw to a client with 65 employees with full benefits. Processing is done at Ascension Accounting office. Cooperation with and support of other bookkeepers at Ascension Accounting is a must.
Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing including benefits, 401k, garnishments, and child support
- Payroll Journal Entry
- Processing and recording payroll tax deposits
- Processing Quarterlies/941’s, reconciling tax deposits and payments
- Processing Annual Payroll Reporting/940’s, reconciling tax deposits and quarterly payments
- W-2, W-3, 1099 filing

- Strong Organizational Skills
- Sharp attention to detail – accuracy is a must
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, deductive reasoning
- Professional level written and verbal communication skills
- High level of integrity, ability to maintain confidentiality
- Collaborative team player
- Flexibility
- Ability to quickly assimilate and execute new information
- Quietly work and concentrate for long periods of time at a computer
Essential Skill Sets
- Experience with Payroll Processing systems
- Experience with Payroll Taxes, Quarterlies and Annual Reporting
- Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency
Schedule and Compensation
- 37.5-40 hours a week (flexible scheduling available)
- Full benefit package available (package determined on hours worked)
- Hybrid work option may be possible after successful 6 month period
- $27/hr starting pay to commensurate with skills
