What You Will Do

The Clinical Technology Support Specialist (CTSS) has primary responsibility to provide clinical application support for any clinician providing patient care and documenting in the electronic health record (EHR). This includes training and onboarding of physicians, at the elbow support for all clinicians, intentional support rounding, technology assessments such as with the downtime system, troubleshooting a variety of issues and escalations when appropriate with a goal of useability, efficiency and competency for technology and end users. The CTSS may participate in discovery, workflow documentation and testing for initiatives, projects or enhancement requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides at the elbow support regarding questions or issues related to clinical workflow and applications such as the EHR .   


  • Establish and maintain working relationships with physicians, clinicians, and leaders at assigned locations to support appropriate workflow and utilization of clinical applications. 
  • Uses critical thinking skills and job knowledge to resolve job-related issues. 
  • Frequently rounds throughout the hospital to identify, assess and resolve new and ongoing issues.
  • Identifies and escalates clinical workflow concerns and issues to leaders
  • Contributes to positive collegial relationships in and outside of the department with effective communication and collaboration.
  • Complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) to protect sensitive patient health information from being disclosed without the patient’s consent or knowledge
  • Participates in training and onboarding of physicians and advanced practice providers. 
  • Demonstrates extraordinary customer relations, quality service, and dedication to providing the highest quality of service to our leaders and clinical associates. 
  • Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Ascension, as well as our sponsoring congregations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Academic

• MA, LPN, LVN, license or other clinical degree desired. Clinical licensure is desired, but a combination of experience and education can be considered in lieu of a clinical licensure.

Experience

• 2 years of experience working in a clinical setting with daily use of an electronic health record.
• 2 years of experience of training and support preferably related to the EHR
• Experience with Cerner preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of Electronic Health Record environments and workflow processes.
• Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work in a complex and matrixed team environment; experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks, and to set priorities, schedule, and meet deadlines.
• Computer literacy (use of computer technology to accomplish tasks) and information literacy (ability to recognize, locate, evaluate, and use information appropriately).
• Ability to effectively train others in the use of computers and related technologies.
• Strong communication skills of various levels of personnel from executives to end-users.
• Ability to create effective interpersonal relationships.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

• Travel may be required within the assigned market.
