What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Supervisor position at Ascension?
Ascension All Saints is looking for a Laboratory Supervisor to join our growing lab team in Racine, Wi.
This is a full-time Days opening.
What You Will Do
- Supervise the daily activities of a defined laboratory unit.
- Establish policies, procedures and protocols for testing.
- Oversee quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Define analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and reference ranges for test methods.
- Serve as a resource to laboratory staff as well as other members of the healthcare team. May be responsible for staffing schedules in area of responsibility.
- Monitor workflow and work volume continuously and adjusts worker's job tasks as necessary to ensure daily work completion.
- Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluation of staff.
What You Will Need
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
- Cytotechnologist credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of
Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred. - Histotechnologist credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of
Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred. - Medical Technologist (ASCP) credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
- If overseeing Couriers associate must have a valid Driver's License, driving record deemed acceptable by the Fleet Management Program and the WI DMV.
- If overseeing Phlebotomy Techs and Clinical Lab Scientists associate must have ASCP Certification. Clinical Laboratory Supervisor preferred.
- Laboratory Tech credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). Credentialing from American Medical Technologists (AMT) also accepted preferred.
- Medical Tech credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT).Credentialing from the
American Board of Bioanalysis (AAB) also accepted preferred.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory scientist, human sciences or education qualifications as stated per CLIA requirements.
Work Experience:
- 2 years of experience required.
