Medical Lab Assistant- Histology

Seton Medical Center has an opportunity for a Medical Lab Assistant- Histology! We are looking for someone with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the laboratory and with laboratory clients. Must be able to multi-task and work independently to complete all assigned tasks. Must have excellent communication, phone, and computer skills. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a degree in life science that would like to work in a lab.

Work Schedule:

This role could be a 10hr or 8hr shift depending on your preference. 10 hours shift 8:00am to 6:30pm can be Tues - Sat, or M-Th, rotating Sat,, 8 hours shift 10am-6:30pm  M-F, with Sat rotation.. Must have the capability of flexing schedule to accommodate workload.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
• Keep work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Fulfill clerical duties which may include but are not limited to answering phones, data entry, and filing.
• Process specimens and perform record keeping duties as required by department.
• Maintain equipment and perform material management duties such as keeping supply inventories at optimum levels and transporting specimens, equipment and supplies.

Licensure / Education:

• Medical Laboratory Assistant crendentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) Preferred
• Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) Preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Prefer at least an Associate degree in laboratory science, life science

Experience in specimen collection and/or processing preferred

Rexperience in a high volume laboratory environment or previous experience in a Histology laboratory or medical office setting preferred
