We are seeking an experienced Compliance Specialist to assist with the growth in our department while acting as a technical resource. The Compliance Specialist will be responsible for facilitating the filing of government forms for our clients. This person will own the compliance process from beginning to end and will partner with internal teams to verify information needed, timelines, and then ultimately communicate results with clients. Communication and organization are top needed skills to be successful.
Responsibilities include:
Complete 5500s for audited plans and non-audited plans and partner with plan sponsor to file timely. This will include the following tasks (but not limited to):
- All forms (except for Schedule B) will need to be completed by this associate
- Coordination with defined benefit department on Schedule B timing will be required
- Preparation of Form 8955-SSA will be necessary
- Trust and asset reconciliation
- Filing of extensions
- Prepare PBGC Filings annually and as needed for plan terminations and amendments/corrections
- Respond to auditors by providing timely and detailed information
- Skills needed
- Strong communication skills
- Will need to communicate with clients, internal colleagues, and PBGC/IRS contacts as needed
- Ability to handle multiple projects at different pace
- Attention to detail
- Time management and adherence to strict deadlines
Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
- 5 years of experience in compliance and administration; specific 5500 experience is required
- FT Williams experience is preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office products
