What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Engineer position at Ascent Aerospace?
Summary of Position
The Project Engineer will provide project management including design engineering, integration, and technical support for manufacture of assembly equipment.
Essential Functions
Serve as the primary design focal for the manufacturing team once after models/drawings are released.
Recommend key process improvements for design support and DFM initiatives with the manufacturing team.
Provide direction for project engineer(s) on tooling assignments, priorities, and technical issues.
Coordinate with fabrication, machine, and final assembly to ensure tooling design meets specification and build requirements.
Drive floor modifications during the build process back through design (and/or customers if build only) and coordinate with project management.
Manage NCR resolution and drive root cause/corrective action reports to the overall engineering team
Provide direction for designers (Macomb/Bothell) on tool re-work on shop floor
Support check process for material pre-release
Work with processing/ME’s to develop build plans on Model Based Designs.
Develop engineering/build strategies to reduce design/manufacturing costs
Assist with design reviews and coordinate with design management for schedule/manpower to achieve milestones to support manufacturing.
Review S.O. Ws for all design/build projects for potential up scope and coordinate with project management and estimating.
Assist in putting in place a documented record of design/build evolution for tracking tool history and support potential up scope and or schedule slip.
Develop/Implement design standards based on the manufacturing process
Any other job tasks/duties assigned by management
Required Skills, Education & Experience
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering environment.
Project Execution – Knowledge of project management life cycle from requirements gathering through design and implementation
Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. § is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar related field
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some projects may require more out-of-the-area and overnight travel.

May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands.
Work with safe manufacturing processes and understanding that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.
