Job Type
Part-time
Description
Do you want to grow your career in An American Classical Education, helping students to live responsible, courageous and virtuous lives? Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado in Windsor, Colorado is hiring a part-time music teacher specializing in band and orchestral music, for the 2023-2024 school year.
At Ascent Classical Academies, teachers create their own lessons within the framework set by our content-rich curriculum, in collaboration with colleagues and in partnership with Hillsdale College's Barney Charter School Initiative. Ascent Classical Academies are dedicated to the intellectual and moral betterment of our students and encourage teachers to take their own moral and intellectual improvement seriously as part of a supportive and excellence-driven culture.
Music teachers should be familiar with the Core Knowledge framework and guide students to enjoy, appreciate, and interpret music in their daily life. Music teachers should be comfortable exposing students to various genres of beautiful music, developing their knowledge and ability in performance, and teaching music theory. This position will also require a background in band and orchestral music and a willingness to develop the school's choral program.
Music's explicit focus on Beauty makes it one of the most enriching disciplines for a classically educated student. Not only does the study of music and the arts bring about the formation of a virtuous soul, but trains students to become critical observers of the world around them, seeking harmony, balance, and loveliness. This training of the heart and soul is a central reason why Ascent Classical Academies students are exposed to the Arts throughout grammar school and are required to take a Fine Art Elective in the Upper School.
