Asher's makes the safety of our Associates our top priority. Safety is everyone's responsibility and it starts with each Associate at every level of the company.
We follow strict manufacturing practices to ensure that we have a quality product. Makeup, nail-polish/artificial nails, highly scented products, clothing contain objects, and jewelry are not permitted on the production floor. Asher's provides safety equipment to make sure that our product is of the highest quality. Appropriate footwear for the specific production area must be wore at all times.
The process of making candy can be challenging. Many factors go into creating our products. The work environment can be hot, cold, noisy, and/or very fast paced. You will regularly work on your feet for long periods of time, have repetitive motions with hands, elbows, shoulders, arms and legs, perform lifting of up to 35 pounds, and be asked to comprehend instructions (written and verbal) in English.
This position is a local Delivery Driver, who will deliver product to customers in the most efficient and timely manner possible, ensuring customer satisfaction and accuracy of orders. The primary hours are Monday – Friday 1st shift, but may infrequently require work outside of these hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work in a safe and efficient manner at all times.
- Have a thorough knowledge of assigned operational procedures and processes.
- Ability to understand and communicate verbally and in writing instructions for deliveries to customers.
- Must be able to possess the ability to load the delivery truck in an efficient manner for the delivery routes, ensuring that the truck is properly loaded so the cargo is stable within the truck, and is able to best compliment the delivery route, including the occasional return of product.
- Thorough review of the safety checklist prior to each shift, and confirm that the drivers log is filled out completely and accurately.
- Ability to safely operate box types of refrigerated delivery trucks and vans, using either manual or automatic transmission.
- Maintain both internal and external truck appearance, safety and sanitation of cargo bay.
- Resolve customer questions and ensure customer satisfaction by either contacting Customer Service or the Warehouse Manager
- Prepare Common Carrier shipments by pulling orders as necessary, processing orders for shipment, shrink-wrapping skidded orders, pulling orders for shipment, and boxing said orders.
- Safe operation of shrink wrap machine, electric powered equipment, and manual pallet jacks and other equipment, as needed.
- Pull UPS and FedEx orders by entering into the PC system, labeling as directed, and preparing for pick-up.
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate to the Manager or Lead Person any problems with shipments and be a proactive problem solver.
- Responsible for following all warehouse policies and company policies/procedures including Safety Guidelines, GMP'S, QA Checklist, Production Standards and other processes as required.
- Must bring a positive attitude (Can Do and What Can I do to Help) to the position.
- Be a positive contributor when interacting with other Asher's team members and customers at all times.
- Perform specific tasks as requested and required by Asher's Management team.

Qualifications:
The ability to read, write, and comprehend English to safely perform all duties and requirements of the position.
Employee must have the ability to safely stand, walk, pull, push, and lift boxes weighing up to 50 pounds to a height of 5 feet either manually or with the aid of material handling equipment over an eight (8) hour shift.
Ability to pull pallet loads of up to 1700 pounds in a safe manner.
Must maintain current driver's license; have a safe driving record with no at fault accidents, or moving violations within a 5 (five) year period.
Ability to drive on various road surfaces in various weather conditions day or night.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Experience:
1-3 years related experience and/or formal driver training with the appropriate certificates and/or diplomas. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must possess the knowledge and understanding of safe driving techniques for various forms of weather conditions, road conditions, and the ability to drive safely in both in daylight and nighttime hours.
Travel Requirements
Perform local deliveries as business need dictates.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Approximately 60% of work is performed in a manufacturing facility which is climate controlled and may contain allergens. The delivery driver must be able to continuously walk, stand, sit and withstand working in a warehouse with a concrete floor, and extreme temperature changes in the range of 60° degrees to an excess of 100° degrees F.
