Job Description Summary
The Dean, Allied Health is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of the departments within the Allied Health Division. The Dean assists the Vice President, Instructional Services in administering College policy and procedure and supports department chairs with hiring, compliance & accreditation, budget, scheduling, retention & completion initiatives, and other administrative activities.
Duties
- Provides leadership for the development, operation, and evaluation of divisional programs.
- Ensures Division compliance with program review, program accreditation, and SACSCOC accreditation standards as appropriate.
- Maintains current knowledge of North Carolina Community College System Curriculum Standards and State Board of Community College Code.
- Enforces College policies and procedures including the Code of Student Conduct.
- Develops and manages Division budget and assists chairs with department budgets and purchasing.
- Ensures accurate and prompt advising from Division faculty.
- Reviews employment agreements and time sheets for accuracy.
- Provides feedback to direct reports and other subordinates.
- Communicates clearly with students, other faculty, and staff.
- Communicates general education course and other specific course needs to the Dean of the Appropriate area.
- Contributes to a safe and secure campus environment.
- Maintains mastery of subject matter.
- Attends meetings and events and actively participate on committees and taskforces.
- Attends the annual commencement ceremony.
- Supports diversity in all aspects.
- Represents the college at community events as well as state, regional, and national conferences.
- Leads divisional enrollment management strategies including working with chairs to recruit, retain, and advise students.
- Contributes to the College Vision, Mission, Values, and RISE statement.
- Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements (Applicant must meet all of the minimum requirements)
1. Master’s degree in Health – related field;
2. Three years of full-time or equivalent experience as a department chair or as an administrator in a field related to the division;
3. Higher Education Teaching Experience.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Three years of full-time or equivalent experience teaching at a community college
2. Experience with Learning Management Systems.
3. Experience with SACSCOC accreditation.
4. Experience managing multiple budgets.
5. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish, an East Slavic language, and/or American Sign Language.
