Home of the MN Timberwolves and MN Lynx. Job Summary The Manager, Security is responsible for the safety and security of Target Center patrons, employees, and its assets. He/she will be responsible for the performance and conduct of all security officers assigned to the watch for day-to-day and event security. In addition, the Manager will coach, train, and develop both security officers and supervisors and will be expected to represent ASM and the Security Department in an exemplary manner. Event MOD responsibility will be split with the Sr. Manger, Security, and attendance is expected at more than 70% of all Target Center events. Essential Duties Other duties may be assigned. Acts as point of contact for event and non-event-related security concerns. Performs conflict and crisis management responsibilities during event and non-event days. Serve as MOD for events. Schedule and staff security department for all Target Center events. Manage ABI, train new staff on the process, and document / hold staff accountable for the scheduling decisions. Recruit and hire new part-time team members for the Security Department. Practice a mentality of continually building the team. Assists in creating and conducting ongoing, in-service training for the security personnel assigned to the site. This includes yearly department training as well as the annual Emergency Procedures training. Manages various types of on-site incidents in compliance with policies and procedures. Create incident reports and file accordingly (e.g., medical emergencies and disruptive guests). Develop regular security topic training programs for all full-time staff, including annual tabletop exercises, monthly security reviews, and emergency action plans. Monitors and ensures the quality of the performance, conduct, professional appearance, and attendance of all security officers and supervisors assigned to the site. Required Qualifications 1. A minimum education level of: Bachelor of Arts/Sciences Degree (4-year) in Security/ Criminal Justice/Hospitality or a related field 2. Years of related work experience: 5, including 2 years supervising a security department. 3. Ability to pass pre-employment screenings. 4. A basic understanding of the rule of law and relevant codes: public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. 5. Demonstrated leadership qualities, including leading by example and motivating staff. 6. Ability to maintain good business relations with all employees and managers. 7. Ability to effectively manage crises and work under pressure without the loss of composure. 8. Skilled at interacting effectively and calmly with angry or emotional patrons and employees during intensely aggravated circumstances. 9. A good understanding of the role and importance of guest services and security at a public venue. 10. Ability to create, implement, and present training materials to multiple groups of employees.
