Job Title: Director of Operations Department: Operations Summary Responsible for the daily activities required to run, maintain, and service the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland (the Facility) and/or the events by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers and supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Directs, supervises and schedules aspects of Operations including Building and Ground Maintenance (non-mechanical), Shipping/Receiving, Safety, Security, ADA compliance, Sustainability, Set Up and Housekeeping Services. * Creates, issues, and manages aspects of procurement including request for proposals/qualifications and contract creation as directed by AGM. * Responsible for contractor compliance as directed by AGM. * Responsible for tracking and reporting of diversity participation related to procurement of services. * Conducts weekly 'operations meeting' with all other departments as directed by AGM. * Coordinates activities with other departments and event related contractors to assure Facility readiness and smooth operation of events. Serves as primary liaison with general service contractors and other service contractors within the Facility. * Responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance of the Facilities and ASM's Safety Programs for all employees, sub-contractors, and users of the Facility. This shall include training, tracking, reporting and creation of Safety Programs as directed by AGM. * Implements and updates facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures to establish and maintain quality and service standards that contribute to a positive image and safe, efficient, sustainable operations. * Provides clear, concise, and timely communication to other departments. * Ensures that Operations Department receives pertinent information for the most effective use of the Facility and staffing. * Assists AGM in the preparation of the Annual Operating Budget and Capital Budgets for future repairs and improvements to the Facility. * Authorizes the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines and serves as primary contact for suppliers, contractors and vendors. * Provides yearly inventory of all equipment (FFE). * Ensures all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, Risk Management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, OSHA regulations, NFPA regulations and emergency procedures are followed. * Investigates, analyzes and resolves operational problems and complaints. Conducts periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems and policy changes. * Responsible for ASM's proprietary maintenance software, Altum, ensuring the system meets ASM's Corporate initiatives. Works effectively with other department heads to ensure compliance. * Oversees the development and implementation of preventive maintenance schedules, emergency procedures, safety and Risk Management policies in compliance with all Corporate and governmental regulations. * Negotiates contracts and agreements with suppliers, promoters, vendors, unions, contractors and/or service providers for necessary services at the Facility as assigned by AGM. * Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies. Assist AGM in implementation of any energy saving initiatives. * Assists AGM with coordinating and overseeing special projects, such as construction, remodeling or expansion. Plans and directs outside vendors/contractors work to assure compliance with contracts and safety requirements. * Assists in the development of long-range plans and program objectives in accordance with the management contract and corporate policy. * Acts as a resource for Sales and Events Staff for event based technical inquiries and challenges. * Reviews and approves departmental purchasing, travel and promotional expense activity. * Develops bid specifications, renewing agreements with suppliers, promoters and tenants for necessary activities and services at the Facility. * Serves as MOD (Manager on Duty) as required. * Represents Operations department during internal and external meetings. * Assures the coordination, implementation, and administration of specific plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives, to include: maintain high-standards for guest services, employee training and development, quality assurance, energy efficiency, safety/emergency, crowd control and crisis management procedures, or others as required. * Understands performance measures as outlined in the terms of ASM management deliverables with the CCCFDC. * Ensures compliance with current and future LEED standards and protocols. Supervisory Responsibilities: * Manages subordinate supervisors and managers in any of the following departments: Set-up, Housekeeping, Operations and Security. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. * Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with ASM's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations No certifications are required.
