What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landfill Technician II position at Asotin County?
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). The purpose of this position is to perform routine sub-professional level engineering and landfill technician work for the Solid Waste Divisions of the Asotin County Public Works Department. Work performed includes assisting the Solid Waste Division by accomplishment of environmental monitoring activities, participation in the household hazardous waste facility operation, and participation in recycling operations at the Asotin County Landfill.
Employees of this class will be required to exercise considerable initiative in the completion of assignments to assure their conformance with established engineering and state standards, practices and procedures. Work of this class requires specific specialized training and experience. Work of this class will involve contact with private contractors, state inspectors, utility companies, county departments, and the general public and will require at all times courtesy, patience, tact, and diplomacy. Employees of this class will operate a variety of field and office equipment such as light-duty vehicles, calculators, testing equipment, gas detection and monitoring devices, gas collection system equipment, groundwater sampling equipment, groundwater monitoring equipment, and use of moderate risk waste bulking materials.
Work is performed in both an office and field setting, at times requiring the employee to perform work in adverse weather conditions.
