Our business is growing, and we are seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our team supporting Chesapeake Potomac Regional Cancer Center in Waldorf, MD, to provide patient care and educational counseling for patients and their families undergoing radiation therapy treatments.

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Nursing and Patient Care
· Check patients’ charts/e-charts to verify that all documents are current, and all information needed for consultation and follow-up is complete and available prior to their scheduled appointments.
· Identify the care needs of patients
· Conduct nursing assessments and enter information into the electronic record.
· Use electronic prescription-ordering and tracking for all patients as directed; reconcile medications and allergies
· Assist physician as needed during physical examinations and procedures.
· Monitor patients under active treatment ?and perform interventions as needed
· Track and monitor compliance with requests for outside testing and referrals
· Triage telephone calls and questions from patients, intervening or referring to physicians as appropriate.
· Provide and document patient education.
· Identify patients who require referrals to outside services and discuss with attending physician.
· Assist in maintaining efficient operation of the Center using “team” concept.
· Sterilize and clean instruments; monitor and order supplies.
· Remain current with and adhere to scope of practice defined by credentialing and professional licensing organizations.
· Complete annual or periodic training (e.g., mandated educational or compliance-oriented courses on safety and security topics such as harassment, HIPAA, OSHA, radiation safety, etc.).
· Establish IV access and administer IV medication.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel Requirements:
· Nurse will work in a Radiation Oncology office where safety protocols are in place. Environmental exposures may include (but are not limited to) blood-borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste, communicable diseases, patient care/handling injuries, and radiation exposure. The nurse may be required to work at our Charlotte Hall location based on staffing needs.
Education and Experience:
· State of Maryland Board of Nursing (RN) license required.
· 3 years of experience strongly preferred but not required. Willing to train if hired.
· EHR experience preferred.
