GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Estimator/ Project Manager is responsible for estimating work of particular projects by gathering proposals, blueprint specifications, and related documents to compute the overall cost of a project. The Estimator/Project Manager will oversee a range of projects (Insulation, Scaffolding, Coatings, Metal Structures, Etc.) from beginning to end and is responsible for managing project safety, tracking costs, schedules, collaborate with subcontractors, ensure all regulations are met, and permits are acquired and current to the expectations established by the Company and the Client. The Estimator/Project Manager will lead in expanding Hudspeth brand through building enduring relationships and successfully completing projects from estimate to close out of a project.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- PMP or an equivalent certification would be considered an asset
- 5 years previous work experience managing budgets for construction projects
- Knowledge of construction materials, equipment production rates and cost
- Highly organized/Excellent time management ability
- High knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Projects
- Understanding of construction management processes
- Able to develop two week look ahead schedules
- Familiar with construction and project management software programs i.e., Vista, BIDNET
- Conflict resolution and conflict management experience
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities, including negotiation skills
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Estimator
- Qualifies and contacts subcontractors to bid specific trade items.
- Must be able to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other construction documents to provide detailed estimates.
- Review pricing and enter into a database for budget and proposal presentations to senior management and prospective clients.
- Develop effective bid strategies to ensure a competitive edge.
- Coordinate and process all RFI and/or ASI/Submittal requirements with Owner/Architect/Engineer.
- Assist in coordination and transition of project start up.
- Provide detailed scopes of work and contractual obligations to project managers and superintendents.
- Demonstrate knowledge of subcontractor community in the local region.
- Provide creative solutions to project estimates through value engineering, constructability analysis and feasibility assessment.
- Coordinate change orders.
- Create instructions to bidders and bid invitations.
- Travel to job walks and/or jobsites as required.
- Create detailed project proposals.
- Comprehend the Company's indirect costs.
- Understand the project's direct costs and the required resources to complete.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Project Manager
- Understands and communicates the Petrochem Health and Safety Plan
- Understands proposed scope of work (SOW) budget
- Tracks the project cost, change order costs and prepare invoices
- Ensures that the resources allocated for the project are sufficient to complete the project on time and under budget
- Works to procure equipment and materials within the budget
- Establishes and communicates detailed project and resource schedule
- Strong client focus and responsiveness
- Acts as liaison between field management and client for contract matters
- Maintains working knowledge of new developments in Environmental compliance for AIS industries and service lines.
- Builds relationships with vendors, regulators, and service providers to strengthen environmental compliance
- Understands contract drawings, specifications and proposed base SOW
