Job Posting for Program and Conference Manager at Association for Public Policy Analysis and...

PROGRAM and CONFERENCE MANAGER
APPAM partnered with the American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) in 2017 to oversee the daily management needs of the organization. To further the mission of ASHEcon and to assist with the growing needs of APPAM, a coordinator is needed to provide support for these new programs and projects. The Program and Conference Manager would split their time between APPAM and ASHEcon tasks but would largely focus on ASHEcon during the first year.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities include helping manage the ASHEcon Annual Conference education program submission process, assist with creating the sessions and conference agenda, assist with the planning and execution of the conference (with the assistance of a meeting planner), manage the awards submissions process, coordinate marketing efforts, help manage the website and assist with other program and membership management tasks.

The successful candidate will work closely with all APPAM team members to make sure that all meetings and conference arrangements help achieve APPAM/ASHEcon goals and strategic objectives.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have 3 – 5 years program management and event planning experience
  • Be a proactive, take charge person. APPAM has a small staff and every employee needs to take full ownership of their role
  • Be excited at the prospect of working with a small staff and a superior multitasker. Tasks and responsibility areas are not at all siloed
  • Have excellent organization skills. The successful candidate will be managing several projects at once and should excel at that
  • Be able to comfortably manage a lot of details and exhibit great attention to detail
  • AMS/CMS/Abstract management experience a plus, specifically Confex, MemberClicks, WordPress and MailChimp
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Have the ability to manage timelines
  • Have superior oral and written communication skills
  • Be able to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Be a team player and able to work well with others
  • Possess impeccable customer service skills
  • Be comfortable—and enthusiastic--with taking on new projects
  • Be required to travel at least a few times per year
  • Interest in public policy/health policy issues a plus
