What are the responsibilities and job description for the Examiner position at Assurant?
Job Summary
The Examiner will report to management within Service Quality Management (SQM). The position is responsible for the development of and participation in several types of operational risk audits including client, functional, advisory, remediation, and/or targeted reviews. The Examiner will work in a team environment to assist in planning, execution, and post audit activities within managed timelines for the above-mentioned audits performed within SQM. In addition, the Examiner will be responsible for creating risk assessments and reporting in accordance with documented operating protocols for the department. The overall goal is to provide internal stakeholders with feedback for opportunities to improve quality and mitigate risk within the organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for working with Senior Examiner to perform operational audits based upon risk, client, regulatory and internal requirements.
- May lead standard operational audits based on department need and availability which includes the oversight and decision making of the planning activities, determining final scope objectives, and coordinating with internal business partners and team members for operational risk audits.
- Evaluates data from multiple sources, analysis of records, reports, internal/client systems, vendor, regulations and operating procedures, processes, including the creation of process maps to assess/monitor compliance to policies and procedures, contractual, and regulatory risks and/or requirements.
- Evaluation to determine scope questions and testing for multiple reviews. This includes working with Senior Examiner (if applicable) and independently to complete a comprehensive risk assessment of the assigned process to effectively document understanding of the process, identify risks, and corresponding control, and/or identify control gaps in the process.
- With support from SQM Management/Senior Examiner, the Examiner creates, approves, and presents final review findings to Operations leadership which identifies and addresses areas of risk and evaluates overall effectiveness of processes.
- Responsible for completion of quality work papers within specific time frames as outlined by Lead and/or Manager, and in accordance with document operating protocols of the department.
- Assesses overall controls within audit section to determine risk and gaps to conclude the effectiveness of process and determine the finding(s) and overall risk severity.
Basic Qualifications
- 2 years of insurance, mortgage, or financial services
- 3 years of operational, Compliance and/or audit experience to include documenting work papers to support overall risk.
- 2 years of utilizing data analysis and improvement tools.
Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience, and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
