Overview of Role:
As a Stop Loss Marketing Intern, you will gain a good understanding of the health insurance industry and market dynamics. Learn about employer self-funded catastrophic stop loss programs, stop loss marketing process, health care data analytics and utilization, and help prospect and identify potential stop loss clients nationwide. The program will provide you with an in-depth understanding of how stop loss products can mitigate risks and lower overall healthcare costs for self-funded employer clients. Develop relationships with AP Keenan sales consultants/account management as well connect with over 40 AssuredPartners broker agencies nationwide. This internship gets you involve in many aspects of stop loss marketing from initial prospect identification, client marketing submission review, web-based competitive intelligence marketing research, data analytics/actuarial analysis, marketing campaigns, while surrounding you with a dedicated sales, underwriting, and actuarial team to help develop your business skills. You will build valuable skills in identifying and developing new business opportunities, developing marketing materials and presentations, analyzing healthcare data and claims utilization, and learning overall healthcare stop loss sales & marketing strategy through presentations, webinars, agency calls, trainings, and mentorship.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
During our Internship Program, you will:
- Learn about the health insurance industry, employee benefits, and health insurance related products.
- Complete training rotation with Public Agency Benefits Underwriting & Actuarial Team and AP Stop Loss Consultants in areas of underwriting, data analytics, actuarial concepts, self-insured programs, and stop loss sales and marketing.
- Learn and implement employer stop loss insurance marketing’s.
- Develop stop loss marketing and sales strategy including population health analysis, conducting market intelligence, competitive research, and marketing presentations.
- Build prospect lists, accompany consultants on sales and marketing calls.
- Collaborate with marketing department to develop marketing campaigns through webinars, blogs, social media, and other communication channels.
- Overview of Salesforce to track leads, individual sales activities, and email marketing campaigns.
- Copy data and compiles records and reports.
- Follow company policies with respect to all essential duties and responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University, ideally in a degree program concentrating in Marketing, Business, Finance or other related fields
- Ideal candidates will be professional and congenial - with inquisitive personalities and the ability to think critically.
- Must be comfortable in a high marketing/sales activity environment and ability to meet client deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and proficient in conducting virtual conference calls.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint.
- Must be driven, self-starter, and coachable while demonstrating a high level of maturity.
- Must be adaptable while working on various initiatives with different teammates.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents, and a high capacity for learning is critical.
