Description:
Responsible for general accounting duties including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of General Ledger accounts, and other accounting functions. This position requires basic understanding of accounting concepts, ability to analyze information, and knowledge of accounting systems. The Junior Accountant will provide support to business units and other internal customers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for timely and accurate month-end accounting close and associated tasks.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and other general ledger accounting functions.
• Process miscellaneous invoices for various departments such as IT, Equipment, and Legal.
• Handles all intercompany accounts and reconciles with subsidiaries monthly.
• Identifies any potential accounting issues or problems to bring to the attention of the associate’s direct report.
• Prepares other account reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, understands the nature of the balances, follows up on open items, and fixes any discrepancies.
• Provide accurate financial documentation, miscellaneous reporting, and frequent engagement with the audit team in support of the yearly audit.
• Prepares analyses and responds to routine questions from internal customers. Assists with information requests, historical information, and other business and financial needs.
• Prepares ad hoc reporting to upper management upon request.
• Develops good working knowledge of accounting systems and assist with suggestions to improve or streamline areas.
• Assists with system development and other related projects and initiatives.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
• Associates/Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting
• 3-5 years of experience in preparation and review of Journal Entries, Intercompany, Inventory Management, and preparation of financial statements is required
• ERP System experience required
• Experienced in providing variance explanation
• Understanding of the full accounting cycle
