Description:
SUMMARY
Assist Accounting Department as directed by the Controller with General, Cost, and Operational accounting functions for the purpose of providing detailed analysis and review of financial reporting. Responsible for plant level costs including cost accounting, bill of material development and audit, inventory reconciliations, and cost analysis. Support month-end close and special projects as required. Works closely with manufacturing to understand issues and how they impact the financial results as well as educate/inform department(s) on cost drivers and variances. Assist with the review and reconciliation of trial balance and all general ledger accounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform periodic physical inventory reconciliations. Research variances and discrepancies as needed.
- Ensure Bills of Materials (BOM) are accurate and up to date.
- Analyze actual labor, material, and overhead cost against absorptions. Research and explain variances.
- Prepare analysis of fixed spending by department. Show actual vs. budget and identify and explain variances.
- Work with the Controller to implement and apply cost accounting policies and procedures as they are derived.
- Aide in the development of new labor and overhead rates and manufacturing forecasts.
- Prepares monthly inventory and COGS schedules and post necessary journals.
- Prepare profitability reports monthly by product and customer for reporting to management.
- Reconcile physical receipts to general ledger posting and prepare any material accruals.
- Prepare reports on inventory and costs for the Management Review Meetings (MRM).
- Assist with the preparation of journal entries required for the month end closing.
- Responsible for compliance to the accounting policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparations of all inventory and cost information necessary for any and all audits internally and externally.
- Server as point of escalation for all inventory and cost issues before taking to the Controller
- Prepare cost justifications for projects proposed and assist in the review of compliance to those justifications after completion of the projects.
- Assist in and prepare analysis for all manufacturing proposals including ROIs calculations.
- Assist and prepare any special financial projects as requested through the Controller.
- Review the accounts payable postings for inventory and manufacturing expenses for correctness and prepare any reclassifications as necessary.
- Provide ERP Help Desk support as assigned by ERP Consultant to rest of the company.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Controller, VP of Finance and Administration, or CEO.
SHARE DUTIES AND BANK UP RESPONSILBILIES OF GENERAL ACCOUNTANT
- Perform bank reconciliations and other treasury functions including by not limited to reviewing positive pay exceptions, clear cancelled checks, and misc cash receipts.
- Back up duties of accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed for absences.
- Reconcile Accounts Payable with the General Ledger at month end.
- Reconcile Accounts Receivable with the General Ledger at month end.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile journal entry postings for Intercompany transactions.
- Prepare sales tax accruals and a sales tax reports.
- Maintain the fixed asset system, post the required journals, and periodically physical reconciliation of the fixed asset listings.
- Prepare monthly trial balance and general ledger account reconciliations for all divisions.
- Review the accounts payable postings for general and administrative expenses for correctness and prepare any reclassifications as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.
