What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Accountant position at Aston Carter?
Our client, a large real estate and property development company, is currently hiring a Sr. Accountant to join their team in Oakville, ON!
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Sr. Accountant will play a key role in our monthly and quarterly close processes as well as assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and related disclosures.
Responsibilities
Assist with the monthly and quarterly close process including preparation and review of journal entries.
Assessment of financial statement estimates and assumptions including but not limited to share-based compensation and employee defined benefit plans.
Preparation and review of account reconciliations.
Preparation and reconciliation of Payroll and Share Based Compensation accruals.
Assistance with Tax Accounting and Reporting.
Assistance with IFRS financial statement preparation including responsibility for certain quarterly and annual disclosures for the financial statements and MD&A.
Assistance with preparation of certain schedules in our Parent Company’s quarterly reporting template.
Technical research and analysis in respect of new transactions and changes in accounting standards.
Annual technical analyses including the goodwill impairment assessment.
Participation in external audits including coordination of working papers for external auditors.
Participation in internal audits including providing support for Sarbanes Oxley controls relating to financial reporting processes.
Participation in team initiatives to implement process improvements for financial reporting, system improvements and automation.
Assistance with the annual GST / HST return preparation process.
Participation in special projects and ad hoc requests, as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
MUST HAVE 1: 3 – 5 years of progressive finance and accounting experience---Public company experience
- Public Company reporting
- Financial Statements, journal entries, account reconciliations
- IFRS
- Audit experience
MUST HAVE 2: Designation, CPA, CA, ACCA
- University degree
MUST HAVE 3: Advanced Excel Skills
- VLOOKUPs, Pivots, SUM, IFs
NICE TO HAVES:
- ORACLE ERP Knowledge
- Insurance/Financial Services Experience
- Alteryx & Workiva
