Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Sonar Payload Technician for the USV Operations & Maintenance, supporting the Navy Division.
Astrion develops, maintains, and operates cutting edge robotic ships and advanced payloads for the US Navy. This is a fast-paced project that is making a significant impact on the future of the Navy.
JOB DETAILS
LOCATION: San Diego, California
JOB STATUS: Full-Time
TRAVEL: Occasional local travel may be required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Bachelor of Science. Will also consider candidates with a HS diploma and significant experience/certification.
- Must have at least 3 years of related experience
- SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance. Current U.S. Citizenship Required
- CERTIFICATIONS: Either USCG License as a 3rd Assistant Engineer or higher, or USCG Designated Duty Engineer license, or US Navy EOOW qualification.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Experience operating and maintaining modern engineering plant control and monitoring systems.
- Experience maintaining and operating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Experience testing vessels or systems at sea.
- Military or research vessel experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- 1 year of experience sailing and a USCG License as a 3rd Assistant Engineer or higher, or 3 years sailing as a Designated Duty Engineer (DDE), or 6 years as a qualified US Navy EOOW.
- Significant experience operating and maintaining diesel engines.
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
- At least 1 year of sea going experience as a USCG licensed engineering officer (3rd Engineer, and higher) OR,
- At least 3 years of sea going experience as a USCG licensed Designated Duty Engineer (DDE), OR
- At least 6 years as a qualified US Navy Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) and an Engineering Department source rating (i.e. Machinist Mate, Electrician’s Mate, Engineman).
- Routine and corrective maintenance for large unmanned surface vessels.
- Operate engineering plant while sea (onboard and remotely).
- Assist with planning shipyard overhauls. Assist with payload integration. Develop maintenance plans and procedures.
- Assist with at-sea testing of vessels.
SALARY RANGE: Estimated $85,000 USD annually
