What are the responsibilities and job description for the COVID Lab Technician position at Astrix Technology Group?
We are currently hiring Lab Technicians to support COVID-19 related testing. Great opportunity for entry level candidates who are interested in gaining laboratory testing experience!
Day Shift: 5am to 1:30pm
Swing Shift: 2 to 10:30pm
Graveyard: 10:30pm to 6:30am
Shifts available: 1st, 2nd, & Graveyard. Must be able & willing to work overtime & weekends as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participates in specimen testing according to established procedures working under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
- Establish positive patient identification on sample or in reporting systems before proceeding submitting samples for testing.
- Assists in preparation and storage of reagents and culture media.
- Assisting in the performance of quality control procedures.
- Perform automated RNA and DNA extraction from various specimen types by following the laboratory SOP.
- Perform certain complex lab procedures under general supervision including library prep for sequencing and PCR testing in accordance with the laboratory SOP.
- Pipettes samples and reagents using calibrated and approved automatic syringes and dispensers.
- Records dates of receipt, in use, and expiration for all reagents, kits, controls, and standards used for assigned assays.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with the Laboratory Manager and/or laboratory staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology or related life science
- 0 years previous experience in laboratory or related work environment preferred.
- Experience with PCR preferred
