Responsibilities:
- Provide care and enrichment for routine and specialized animal colonies.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of animal facilities and equipment, including cage preparation and sanitization.
- Handle and restrain laboratory animals, conducting regular observations and reporting any abnormal findings.
- Document all tasks accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in training new team members on animal care and facility operations.
- Operate and maintain animal facility equipment, such as cage washers and environmental monitoring tools.
- Participate in quality reviews of animal care records and assist in identifying improvements in processes and technologies.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 2 years of experience in an animal research facility or veterinary practice; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science preferred.
- AALAS certification is highly desirable.
- Basic computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols strictly.
