What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Lab Scientist position at Astrix?

Shift: 12:30PM - 9pm or 3PM - 11:30 PM Mon-Friday rotating weekends

Pay: MLT: $25-$30 MLS/MT: $29-$35

Location: Boston, MA

Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures following departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent.
  • 0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • State Medical Technologist license may be required
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, proficient with computers, and familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
