Job Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a consultant to leadership and team members on human resources-related issues, including talent development, succession planning, workforce planning, performance management, change management, special projects and a heavy focus on employee relations.
The successful HR Business Partner will act as a team member champion and change agent, actively assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. Communicating needs pro-actively to other departments in HR and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop solutions, creates and nurtures partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and team members that reflect the objectives of the organization.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of team member work results by training managers to coach and discipline team members; schedule management conferences with team members; listen to and resolve team member grievances; and counseling team members and supervisors, workplace investigations
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of multi-state employment laws and ensure legal compliance by monitoring, communicating and implementing applicable HR federal and state requirements, conducting investigations, maintaining records and representing the organization
- Partner with Talent Acquisition team on recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; and recommending changes
- Conduct in-depth, compliant, empathetic employee relations investigations
- Execute Operational and HR business objectives through people programs
- Travel required ~10%. Work from home ~90%
- All other duties required by management
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Industrial/Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, psychology, or other related field preferred
- A minimum of 2 years of prior Human Resources, Organizational Development, investigation or similar experience required
- Experience practicing HR in a retail environment with a distributed team a plus
- Understanding of, and some experience with, most or all of the core aspects of Human Resource Management (staffing; employee relations; performance management; leadership development; training)
- Ability to problem solve and translate concepts into actionable items
- Comfortable working in ambiguous business situations
- Must possess consultative style and approach with proven ability to develop credible relationships with business partners
- Must possess strong verbal and written commination skills
- Ability to present their point of view in varied business situations
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Outlooks, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
