The Engineering Manager will oversee Product Development, the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, manages the activities and operations of the engineering department and staff. They will provide direction, supervision, and ensure the engineering team works together cohesively with other departments. In addition, they will be responsible for determining the most capable equipment needed for cost effective manufacturing of product. Aligned with Quality, Production, Facilities, Sales and Human Resources, this position will collaborate in developing systems that will enable the organization to exceed all corporate objectives established including on-time delivery, quality, shipments, bookings and profitability.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 5-10 years of management experience working in areas of manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering and or process/production engineering.
- Prior experience leading a group of employees, including performance management, with the ability to affectively coach and motivate employees in a Lean environment
- Candidates should have an understanding of engineered metal products and manufacturing process associated with tubing and high-speed stamping. In both a high-volume and low-volume manufacturing environment. Familiarity with failure analysis methods (Internal & Customer) and associated process of corrective and preventive actions and materials science.
- Experience with development of Process & Inspection plans along with ISO 9001:2015 requirements in partnership with the Quality department.
- Experience with MRP systems and ISO compliant quality systems Strong technical background and aptitude
- Demonstrated ability to utilize advanced root cause problem solving and analytical tools.
- Experience within a manufacturing organization functioning in a New Product Development, and Process Engineering capacity.
- Experience using CAD, solid computer skills, and experience using equipment with knowledge of statistical methods and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience using the FMEA process and past success improving cost & quality metrics as a result of successful implementation.
- Talent management skills should include: review of current staff, training, developing, and ability to make subsequent staffing decisions in a timely manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors of Science, preferably in Metallurgy, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or equivalent in related environment. Advanced degree preferred
