Position Brief:
As the Director of Finance at ATC Automation, you are a member of the senior executive team responsible for assuring the company's financial health. This is an operational and strategic role. You will manage the accounting and financial control functions as well as the financial strategy to assure profitable, long-term growth of the business.
Reporting to the President / General Manager of ATC, the Director of Finance is responsible for directing and supporting a staff of approximately 13 individuals. You will oversee all financial aspects of the business, including financial strategy and planning, information technology, contract review and purchasing.
The Director of Finance is expected to provide business and operational analysis, give strategic insight, and impart tactical financial advice to be an effective business partner and trusted advisor to the CFO, senior management, and Board to drive long-term profitable growth. It is essential that he/she be able to develop innovative business solutions and strategies grounded in data-driven information and strong business acumen. The Director of Finance will be responsible for increasing the company's ability to anticipate business issues and for driving good decision-making through sound financial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be Strategic & Operationally Involved- Play a strategic role as a proactive advisor to the leadership team and private equity firm on growth strategies, corporate transactions, operating performance and cash flow trends as needed. As a true business partner to the President/General Manager, assess organizational performance against both the annual budget and AKG's long-term strategy.
- Accounting, Financial Reporting & Controls- Being responsible for the accounting, controls, and finance processes for the company to ensure timely and informative reporting.
- Financial Planning & Analysis- Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
- Budgeting & Forecasting- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting to help senior management set and achieve long-term financial goals that align with the goals of the business.
- Data & Trend Analysis- Proven ability to leverage and implement data analytics and business intelligence tools to drive real-time decision making, as well as operational tools to enhance performance and increase profitable growth.
- Operations Management- Oversee the company's purchasing, IT system and controls. Additionally, oversee all audit and internal control operations.
- Cash & Working Capital Management- Supporting and supervising the business team on the management of working capital, including monitoring cash balances, improving, and implementing policies to optimize working capital, and cash forecasting.
- Stakeholder & Employee Relations. Board of Directors, investor and lender reporting, communication, and covenant & credit agreement compliance monitoring. Provide financial advice and knowledge to others within the organization to all for informed decision making across all levels.
- Travel Requirement- 10-15%, more if necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Education- Undergraduate degree is required, with a preference for a BS / BA in accounting, finance, or a related field. MBA, Master of Accountancy, and/or CPA is preferred.
- Accounting Experience- The successful candidate will be a hands-on, operationally oriented finance executive with a proven track record in both large and small business environments and has ideally been with a sponsor backed business. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting / finance roles and a minimum 5 years' experience as a Controller / Director of Finance.
- Functional Expertise. This individual should possess strengths in corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices. Excellent financial skills, with the ability to detect trends from financial statements and provide analysis to company managers to improve their decision-making ability. Additional experience overseeing a human resources function would be viewed favorably, as well as an information technology department.
- Relevant Industry Experience- It is preferred that the Director of Finance have experience in manufacturing, automation systems, and/or robotics businesses, with additional experience in a POC accounting environment.
- Systems Experience. Expert level skills with MS Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Additional ability to navigate and extract data from ERP systems.

Track record of executing on business strategy as both a finance business partner and operating executive. The Director of Finance must excel in driving business performance based on key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Commercial Orientation. The Director of Finance will be commercially minded and effective working both at strategic and tactical levels. S/he should demonstrate comfort in identifying and analyzing proposed transactions and business plans to advance the company's goals and strategies.
- Strong Business Acumen. The candidate must understand the levers on both the operational (strong detail orientation) and customer / commercial side of the business.
- Excellent Communication Skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills; the ideal candidate will possess the ability to present his/her ideas in a clear, concise and compelling fashion to senior leadership.
