Overview

The Financial Analyst is responsible for performing in-depth research, analysis, and interpretive insights of financial data to recommend quality improvements to current processes, forecast alignment of business objectives with economic/financial environments, and support strategic planning and business opportunities. They perform financial analysis on cash flow, operating results, and business plans to determine rates of return, capital/cash flow requirements, etc.

The Financial Analyst works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. They exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Contract set up in accounting system and maintenance of funding and budget data from award through close out.
  • Support the Program Manager in development of program cost “estimates to complete” based on inception to date cost, technical and schedule performance
  • Prepare and submit invoices for government customers in compliance with contractual and FAR regulations for all contract types.
  • Develop and interpret financial concepts for financial planning and control.
  • Prepare forecasts and analysis on industry and general economic trends.
  • Gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations for financial plans, trended future requirements, operating forecasts, etc.
  • Monitor and provide monthly revenue and/or expense analyses on projects/problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of tangible and intangible variables.
  • Develop ad-hoc and special reports summarizing project status/results, presentations to Senior Management, and recommendations impacting business decisions.
  • Contribute to business case development and analysis for the organization or functional business areas.
  • Perform technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Provide accurate and timely reports for performance monitoring.
  • Apply organizational policy and procedure to resolve a variety of problems.

    • Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

         

    • Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years' experience or equivalent experience.
    • Experience working with multiple government contract types (Cost Plus, T&M, FFP, etc.)
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Problem solving & analytical skills
    • Experience with MS AX, Unanet preferred
