Who we are looking for:
Atkore, a recent recipient of a Great Place to Work© certification, is currently searching for Light Fabricator to be based out of Hebron, OH reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor. As a light fabricator, you will be responsible for the manufacturing or preparing, and fabricating assorted metal products and components using various materials and tools.
What you’ll do:
- Preparation of metal components for welding operations
- Works with production supervisors to plan work priorities, obtain necessary supplies, and assess skills needed to complete tasks
- Take part in product development meetings
- Testing of product for functionality
- Use of measurement tools and jigs to ensure part dimensions
- Safely operate hand tools for grinding and polishing, using standard operating procedures
- Safely operate the automated polishing machine, mill and drill and saws using standard operating procedures
- Post-weld grinding/polishing of metal components to ensure welds are smooth and ready for powder coat or further polishing operations
- Identify enhancement opportunities and suggest solutions for improvement to top management
- Perform additional duties/assignments that may be required by management from time to time
- Responsible to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with a company mission statement, core values, and other standards of conduct
- Support and actively participate in the continuous improvement of the Company’s safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Troubleshooting and stress testing of products
- Ensuring all parts are properly fitted and aligned
- Verification of dimensions and product specifications
- Perform activities on parts, manufacturing machines, and equipment while following safety objectives according to the company’s safety, quality, housekeeping, and production standards
- Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments
- Participate in Lean Daily Manufacturing and 5S activities and promotes the plant Lean culture
What you'll bring:
- Highschool diploma or GED required with a minimum of two years’ experience in fabrication
- Specialized fabrication certification preferred
- Ability and willingness to follow directions as well as the ability to work in a team or independently Excellent eyesight and color vision
- Experience in machinery maintenance repair
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to identify measures or indicators of system performance that are relative to the plant goals
- Possess excellent detail accuracy and organization skills
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to read blueprints/shop drawings
- Forklift certification is strongly preferred
- Ability to lift and manipulate up to 50lbs
- Must pass a drug screen and background
