Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Production Coordinator to be based out of our New Bedford, MA facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Coordinator will be responsible for managing manufacturing production activities in support of overall Atkore strategic objectives. This position is a critical part of our team that will administer programs, projects, and/or processes specific to the operating unit served working with all members of the operations team.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus; and a minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in materials planning or productions scheduling is required. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.
What you’ll do:
- Track production work orders across value streams and maintain records in databases and Lean Daily Management (LDM).
- Leads tier 3 LDM for Procurement, Supply Planning and Distribution.
- Create and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production, downtime, scrap, quality, and schedule compliance reports in Microsoft office and JDE.
- Prepare and control records, statistics, and reports regarding operations, etc.
- Sequence work orders following the master schedule to ensure prioritization and alignment between value streams.
- Work with supervisors to coordinate any changes to the daily schedule and always maintain work order traceability.
- Resolve daily production issues and hold value streams accountable for daily line items compliance.
- Ensure material shortages or overages are accurately and timely reported.
- Assist in WIP inventory reconciliation.
- Operates as Shift Supervisor on all three shifts as a backfill as necessary
- JD Edwards super user and support production floor with work order creation.
- Deliver internal customers with necessary information and reports.
- Provide support to operations management including supervision of staff as needed.
- Leads weekly and end of month physical inventories.
- Coordinates with Procurement to order Office and Production supplies not on the inventory tracker.
- Communicates with suppliers regarding gaps on hand inventory.
- Acts as a receiving lead for the Business Unit to include receiving, reconciliation and processes.
- Accountable for the tags and label program to include printing, maintaining, issuing, and reconciling.

What you’ll bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within all levels of a diverse organization.
- Minimum of 2 years of administrative experience in a lean manufacturing environment and experience in materials planning or production scheduling is required.
- Experience with JD Edwards, SAP or any other ERP system and strong Microsoft Office skills required including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
- Attention to detail and the ability to organize and multi-task numerous activities is a must. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills within all levels of a diverse organization.
- Ability to read, understand, interpret documents, and carry out instructions in English such as safety rules, facility instructions. Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) is a plus.
- Experience working with teams which support and drive company values and initiatives from an individual contributor level.
Within 3 months, you’ll:
- Complete your Atkore immersion program.
- Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy.
- Gain understanding of the products and processes.
- Understand the planning and scheduling process for the facility.
- Update daily production reports and KPI’s.
- Assist in WIP inventory reconciliation.
- Lead in end of month inventories.
Within 6 months, you’ll:
- Fully understand how you can positively impact Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Take full ownership in sequencing work orders following the master schedule to ensure prioritization and alignment between departments.
- Create and update reports and procedures, as necessary.
- Understand JD Edwards and be able to run reports.
- Identify opportunities for improvement within your area of responsibility.
Within 12 months, you’ll:
- Improve, streamline, and automate processes within your area of responsibility, and throughout the entire scheduling process.
- Create and run queries in JD Edwards.
- Become a JD Edwards super user and trainer.
- Propose changes to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost based on data-driven analyses.
- Identify ways to strengthen the team’s commitment to Atkore’s core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Integrity, Respect and Excellence.
