Who we are looking for:
We are currently searching for a Tool and Die Maker, based out of Tampa, FL. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this person’s primary focus is to change, clean, and maintain all tooling and components. and quality standards by ensuring the continuous operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. This person will provide ongoing support to Maintenance Technicians and report issues as needed to the Department manager.
What you’ll do:
- Must follow Atkore safety rules, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, and other safety policies/procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining and communicating inventory of die parts and supplies needed to make all products, such as extra heater bands, cooling tank gaskets, thermocouples, abrasive pads, abrasive belts, wire brushes, eye bolts, and wrenches. wire plugs and electrical in a timely manner to maintenance leadership.
- Inspects, repairs, and performs electric and mechanical overhauls on all equipment such as VFDs, and open and closed feedback.
- Responsible for cleaning die head parts and inspecting parts for wear or bad chrome areas, stores die head parts in a manner to not scratch or nick parts.
- Safely operates forklifts to move equipment and materials to and from the production areas, die shop, scales, and warehouse.
- Responsible to coordinate chrome repairs in a timely manner to minimize tooling damage and production schedule interruptions.
- Hangs die head on the extruder, tightens die and adapter bolt to proper torque specifications, attaches die wiring at the extruder, and assures that all die zones are working properly.
- Attend required training sessions and wear the required safety equipment such as hearing protection, safety glasses, and other safety equipment that might be required for certain jobs or tasks.
- Performs changeover tasks on pullers, saws, and bellers, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions and making necessary repairs.
- Proficient in Lockout Tagout principles
- Extremely detail-oriented
What you’ll bring:
- The minimum educational requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience doing electrical/mechanical maintenance in an industrial/ manufacturing environment
- Must have strong Mechanical and Electrical skill sets
- Experience with installation of machinery and equipment as well as disassembly.
- Mathematic skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals including compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
- Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks on a weekly or as directed
- Must be able to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced work environment
- Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
