Summary/Objective:
The Service Manager supervises staff who install, repair, and maintain commercial heating and air conditioning systems. Plans, forecasts, manage and deliver consistent long-term profitable growth. Develops and delivers estimates and proposals to the customer. Personally, establishes and maintains long term customer relationships.
Essential Functions:
- Manage employees and train staff to test electrical circuits, wire components, and electrical equipment; inspect and test different HVAC systems; comply with safety regulations; and ensure employees acquire necessary certifications
- Develop budgets, set company goals, interview prospective employees, and meet with other company managers to discuss different strategies
- Schedule appointments and assist dispatching service technicians
- Strong mechanical and installation understanding of the tools and equipment that technicians use
- Support service technicians on service calls as necessary
- Must they have good customer service and communication skills
- Practice performance management by setting clear goals, investing personal time in employee development, (i.e. weekly/monthly meetings, account reviews, opportunity reviews and regular observed calls) and performing on-time performance reviews with the customer
- Ensure adherence to Company policies, procedures, and strategic initiative
- Increases market penetration in local business by securing new customers and expanding the scope of the existing customer base.
- Develop strategies for execution consistent with Building Efficiency models and objectives. Understands the business environment of area markets including competition, purchasing and business trends
- Ensure compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates the local office with the highest business ethics
- Provide timely accurate and detailed information to all levels of the Service Team to ensure proper handling of all service calls, quotes, and projects
- Document work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files
- Keep all current manufacturers' products concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair
- Provide technical support to customers
- Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: Yes
Required:
- 5 years of experience in commercial and or/residential HVAC industry; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
- Proficient in MS Office
- Knowledge of basic electricity, electrical and control systems
- Ability to read, understand, and work from blueprints, specifications, and schematics
- Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
- Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history)
- Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
- Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned
The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
Work Environment:
- May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness
- May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
- May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights
Physical Demands:
- This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
- While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
Travel:
- May require travel
Preferred:
- HVAC Journeyman/Master certification
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
