Responsibilities of a Medical Records Clerk:
- Responsible for record keeping and medical records management for a long-term care and short-term rehabilitation / sub-acute care nursing center.
- Prepare charts for new admissions, close medical records upon discharge, maintain physician’s orders and visit schedules, and audit to ensure records management meets center’s policies and procedures, professional standards, and state and federal laws and regulations for long-term care facilities.
Qualifications for a Medical Records Clerk:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience reading and interpreting medical terminology required.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Windows, Computer-Based Programs and Internet-Based Applications required.
- Prior experience in Medical Records or related healthcare support position in a LTC / Skilled-Nursing experience a plus

The health information management clerk will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the health information management department. The individual hired for this position will have a strong knowledge of coding and billing practices, and will be responsible for helping to develop policies that cover all aspects related to health records management. An ideal candidate will not only have experience in the field of health records management, but also excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, as well as a good understanding of the healthcare system.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining confidential medical records.
- Be able to perform administrative duties.
- Be able to understand medical terminology.
- Be able to use computers to complete accurate records.
- Be able to work accurately under pressure.
- Work well with patients and healthcare personnel.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
