Overview
This position is responsible for managing a team of benefits professional within the benefits team of Human Resources. Works closely with the Senior Director, Total Rewards & HRIS on benefit plan design, compliance, communication and employee education for executive benefits, health & welfare plans, retirement plans, disability plans, voluntary benefits and wellness initiatives for ground and crew employees both domestic and international.
Responsibilities
- Manage benefits professionals who administer all employee benefit programs for both domestic and international employees, crew and ground.
- Provides direction to benefits professionals as needed with resolving benefits and employee issues that have been escalated or may need the attention of legal and/or outside legal counsel
- Ensures compliance with provisions of the Affordable Care Act and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA). Prepares reports and applications required by Law to be filed with federal and state agencies such as the IRS, DOL and other regulatory agencies.
- Assist Senior HR Director in developing and presenting Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings benefits philosophy and objectives, strategic plan and overall deliverables to Executive and Senior Leadership, Management, and HR Leadership for both ground and collectively bargained union employees.
- Manages the study, analysis, design, evaluation, communication, implementation, and administration of current benefits programs, policies and procedures; including executive benefits, and includes all health & welfare, retirement, and other fringe benefits for US and Global Operations for both ground and collectively bargained union employees.
- Manage the leave of absence process and handle questions from employees.
- This employee has full access to personnel and benefits information for all employees of the Company and performs his/her duties and responsibilities in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Act. Responsible for HIPAA training of employees who may have access to employee’s information.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with state and federal related laws. Works with internal and external auditors. Ensures timely filing of all 5500 and related filings.
- Manages annual audits and compliance filings for The Atlas Air, Inc. Retirement Plan (“401(k)”).
- Provides inputs in the annual budget process with regard to benefits budget. Tracks and monitors budget throughout the fiscal year. Develop, track, and analyze financial data reports for benefit plans.
- Supports the Senior HR Director in the development and implementation of short term and long term strategic benefits initiatives.
- Responsible for making improvements to processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of workflows.
- Establishes objectives and oversees the results and delivery of benefit plans in alignment with the benefits strategy.
- May be required to negotiate with colleagues and department heads with regard to operational issues.
- Work with broker/consultants to Assesses the overall effectiveness and competitive posture of the benefits program and lead any future program enhancements.
- Respond to management and other HR questions on benefits issues
- Directs the development of benefits associates within the Benefits Team.
- Manages vendor relationship with broker/consultants in US, collaborates with International HR Business partner on Global Operations, and oversees vendor relationships with various benefit plan carriers and insurance providers.
- Work on CBA negotiations with internal Atlas Air legal counsel
Qualifications
- Must have at least 10 – 15 years of employee benefits experience with a combination of health & welfare plan administration, 401(k) plan administration, disability management and wellness initiatives including 5 years in a supervisory capacity.
- BA or BS degree in Business, Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of health /welfare/ disability benefit plans, AD&D, Life, Flexible Spending Accounts, and 401k and relevant federal laws (HIPPA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, ERISA, etc.) required.
- The ability to influence others both within the team and outside of benefits.
- Experience with vendor management and establishing service level agreements.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize work, excellent organizational skills, and initiative to improve processes.
- Strong project management skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
Salary Range: $125,300 - $169,200
Financial offer within the stated range is contingent on the qualification of selected candidates
