Atlas Copco Comptec LLC, located in Voorheesville, NY, is seeking a Mechanical Designer. The primary objectives of this position include:
Under direction of Engineering Project Leader, is responsible for completing engineering and design tasks necessary for execution of mechanical upgrade projects. In addition, assistance to the Application Engineers to assist on the pre-order quotation side will be an important aspect of the position to assist in keeping the RFQ backlog down and ensure accurate and cost-effective projects, once the orders are received.
- Provide support to project team per the direction of the Engineering Project Leader in executing team projects. This includes but is not limited to: drawing and bills of material review, new component research, verification of design calculations, etc.
- Create models, machining drawings, package designs, etc. when required.
- Propose design concepts and offer recommendations for standard upgrades.
- Complete BOM, create part numbers, advance release long lead items, etc. as needed.
- Provide design and engineering support to Service Center North America (SCNA) as needed.
- Support manufacturing with design issues during machining/assembly.
- Provide/review documents and drawings to/from vendors and assist Application Engineers with RFQ’s.
- Assist with detailed purchase specifications for major core or package components.
- Assist with the engineering schedule, be conscious of job and component cost, and advise areas of concern.
- Coordinate with project team to provide customer’s required drawings and documentation within the agreed contract schedule.
- Assure that the project has been reviewed, properly checked and all procedures are followed before the release of projects to manufacturing.
- Maintain accurate, accessible project records, which conform to ACC quality procedures.
- Comply with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements

Our Voorheesville, NY facility is specializing in the production of integrally geared compressors and companders, custom engineered to serve our customers. Engineering, Manufacturing and Test operations are present on site.
What we expect of you?
High School graduate with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design/Engineering and at least five (5) years of experience with compressor core and/or package design. Strong computer skills, including experience with PTC Creo CAD, AutoCAD Inventor, Medusa or similar package software are strongly suggested. GD&T knowledge required.
