As a Manufacturing & Tool Room Engineer you will lead the design and development of manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment that meet all customer and company requirements, you will manage a tooling for AtlasFibre manufacturing. Drive continuous improvement across the product lines by owning project timelines, improving product quality and resolving technical/process issues. Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide technical and tool building support required for new programs.
- Provide technical and tooling repair and upgrade support to Manufacturing
- Assist Production Departments and Design Engineering during pilot production phases of new contracts.
- Assist Production Departments and Design Engineering during regular production
- Utilize & Manage Tooling Database through Tool Management Software
- Drive daily schedule attainment to meet all internal and external customer commitments with top quality at the lowest cost, implement a strategy to reduce cycle times and reduce in-process inventory levels
- Drive business critical metrics including safety, quality, and productivity
- Provide data for creation of operation sheets, process sheets, etc. for all phases of the new programs and program modifications.
- Assist Q/C with technical aspects of tooling inspections.
- Provide Tooling preventive Maintenance for Production Tooling
- Propose and justify additional projects designed to improve tooling manufacturing, preventative maintenance, and tooling improvements
- Provide tooling and machining process support to Manufacturing as requested.
- Participation in Lean events and drive continuous improvement projects with team and throughout the site.
- Work with cross-functional peers in manufacturing engineering, planning, quality, etc. to resolve issues
- Utilize automated shrink fit machine to create error proof tooling procedures.
- Manage tool room purchasing to meet company / department budget.
- Any other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing
Desired Characteristics
- Preferred Leadership Experience in Production or Operations Supervision
- Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
- Ability to deal fairly and equitably with all employees
- Strong organizational skills and high attentional to detail
- Ability to understand and interpret customer drawings and specifications.
- Experience with part inspection equipment (Multi-axis CMM preferred)
- Hands on machinist or tool making experience would be a plus
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
