Overview:
- Under supervision, responsible for expert-level troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and systems-related issues on equipment, following manufacturer's guidelines and specifications.
Responsibilities:
Perform advanced-level break-fix and preventative maintenance tasks, including: analyzing device operation to identify root cause of issues; disassembling devices to access and remove faulty parts; inspecting parts for defects; adjusting functional components and control instruments; repairing or replacing defective parts; testing device performance; conducting electrical circuitry and mechanical systems tests; and refurbishing machine tools.
Identify and procure necessary parts, supplies, and repair items as required.
Independently carry out maintenance activities in compliance with industry standards.
Possibly operate multiple machining operations such as lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to fabricate and repair parts. Welding tasks may also be performed.
Adhere to 5S and housekeeping standards.
Participate actively in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, focusing on processes, results, and cost savings.
Maintain accurate records and review CMMS history.
Troubleshoot and analyze control systems to resolve software/hardware issues and configuration problems.
Utilize predictive maintenance technologies to collect data on equipment performance.
Provide assistance to lower-level technicians and lead small teams. Take on more advanced responsibilities as part of training and development.
Complete on-the-job and technical self-study programs to enhance career growth.
Adhere to safety-related policies, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Maintain situational awareness and identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
Requirements:
High School Graduate or equivalent (GED).
Associates degree with Technical focus and 3 years of relevant experience in general industry; or 5 years of relevant experience in general industry or successful completion of the ATS Technician Progression Program.
Proficient in electrical, mechanical, fluid power, and control systems. Capable of analyzing problems and performing repairs.
Skilled in the use of basic hand tools and specialized tools as necessary.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- The job requires regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and verbal communication. It may involve working at elevated heights using ladders or lifts, as well as working in confined spaces. The ability to lift and move objects weighing over 50 pounds is necessary. Close and color vision is essential. The working environment is often noisy and may expose employees to hazardous materials, greasy or slippery floors, and outside weather conditions.
