Duties and Responsibilities:
Install, service, and move outside plant and premise wiring systems; install and service fiber optic cable systems, perform test such as continuity, wire mapping, signal loss using cable mappers and meters and document results.
Install, service, and move computer hardware such as computer terminals, network printers, card readers, print servers, modems, channel banks, telephone data switches; debug cable and configuration issues; process trouble tickets from work order system.
Install and test communication software programs such as browsers, plugins, TELNET clients, FTP clients and others for specialized access to AUM or Auburn administrative servers; workgroup or network dedicated computers for specific functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of software, hardware, network or phone system installation and maintenance
Ability to diagnose and correct software, hardware, network, or phone system problems
Ability to train and assist users
Ability to maintain inventory and records
Ability to adjust communication to the level of the recipient and explain technical information to end users

Minimum Qualifications:
Education equivalent to completion of high school and experience equivalent to one (1) year in telecommunications.
Education in related area (Telecommunications, Information Systems or Network Operations) may be substituted for experience.
