The Account Director (AD) is responsible for the overall success and development of Wellington client relationships. This individual is a proactive and charismatic communicator who is adept at creating and reinforcing strong partnerships. They will ensure outstanding service to high-value clients, and also strive for organic expansion of services provided to the client. This person is instrumental in the sales process, assuming a leadership role on the account. As such, client presentations and follow-up activities are required.

Acting as a front-line point of contact, this tenacious person must have the passion to learn and curate the clients' brand and marketing strategies and then translate them into innovative event strategy. Creativity and the ability to "think outside the box" are critical.

The AD must have exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to persuade others to accept changes and new ideas - they naturally embrace challenges because they have always been competitive. They are expected to draw on client communication to provide insights and innovation. The knack to think through situations in a deductive nature, yet communicate the thought process easily with both internal and external clients is a priority.

Additionally, strong team and leadership skills are required as the Account Director is responsible for the oversight, coaching, nurture, training and management of the dedicated account team. They must embrace constructive conflict and create a culture of accountability for their team. They must be humble and willing to embrace new strategies and ideas.

The AD should possess organizational skills as he or she will oversee and execute event-planning, virtual program oversight, team management, marketing oversight and financial management.

Budget parameters, company objectives, and deadlines are all intertwined in daily activities.

The Account Director reports to the Director of Client Services and is responsible for their assigned account team (approximately 5 - 8 people).

You'll spend your days on the following:

Client Relations & Development

  • Energetically represent, craft and implement the Wellington brand in the community and in the industry.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of specific client's brands, marketing strategies, goals, etc.
  • Build, develop and nurture successful relationships with multiple high-value clients at any one given time by instilling confidence and trust.
  • Manage the concept and logistics development for meetings, incentives, virtual events & meetings, special events and marketing campaigns.
  • Advise clients and act as a consistent resource; address needs and inquires, ensuring their questions are answered promptly and appropriately.
  • Possess the ability to effectively deliver their own new, creative ideas on a consistent basis for aspects within a client project and for overall project direction.
  • Professionally give creative and strategic sales presentations to new and existing clients.
  • Accountable for reselling current clients and booking new business while leading proposal research and development processes.
  • Generate sales leads through networking and referrals.

Team Leadership

  • Optimistically and effectively manage the assigned Wellington account team - including training, developing, and coaching each member of the account team.
  • Schedule and lead collaboration meetings with the assigned Wellington account team to develop strategy and ensure consistent service level standards.
  • Approve and monitor program specifications, timelines, budget parameters, program profitability, efficiency, and post program wrap up.
  • Attend and take active role in weekly staff management and team meetings.
  • Attend regular training/update meetings with members of the Wellington leadership team to report account status.
  • Develop vendor partnerships and adeptly control contract negotiations.
  • Travel approximately 30 percent of the year - long days/light lifting.

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study. 5 years experience in project management and 3 years experience in team leadership.

*Please note if you are in KS OR MN, we require employees to be in office. However if not in either state, this position has the capacity to be remote.*
