- Data Collection and Ingestion: Assist in the collection and ingestion of data from various sources, including databases, APIs, and external systems. Develop basic ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis.
- Data Modeling and Schema Design: Support senior data engineers in designing and implementing data models and database schemas. Assist in defining data structures and relationships to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of information.
- Data Processing and Analysis: Participate in data processing and analysis activities, including querying data, performing basic data transformations, and generating reports. Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to support analytical initiatives and business intelligence efforts.
- Data Quality and Governance: Assist in monitoring and maintaining data quality and integrity across databases and data pipelines. Participate in data governance activities, including data profiling, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.
- Database Administration: Support database administration tasks, including database setup, configuration, and maintenance. Assist in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Documentation and Documentation: Document data processes, workflows, and technical specifications to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration. Maintain documentation for data sources, data dictionaries, and data lineage.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders, to support data-related initiatives. Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Additional coursework or certifications in data engineering, database management, or related disciplines is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of data engineering concepts and methodologies. Familiarity with database systems, SQL querying, and ETL processes. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala is advantageous.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and derive insights. Comfortable working with structured and unstructured data sets.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and accuracy in data processing and analysis tasks. Ability to identify and resolve data quality issues and discrepancies.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and methodologies. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
