What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Performance Analyst position at Austin FC?
Austin FC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the League’s 27th club in January 2019. Austin FC began competing in MLS in April 2021 and played its first match at home on June 19, 2021, in the new, 100% privately financed, state-of-the-art Q2 Stadium in Austin. In its second year, Austin FC finished the regular season 2nd in the Western Conference, while also making a run to the Western Conference Final during the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Austin FC is actively seeking an experienced and professional Video Performance Analyst who will manage all aspects of video analysis for first team players and staff. In this role, you will be responsible for the recording of First Team training sessions and matches, analysis and coding of these sessions, individual and team opposition scouting, live coding of all Austin FC games for half time presentations and create post-match analysis for individual player and team presentations. This position will report to the Head of Video Performance and work closely with the Technical Staff and be responsible of all facets of video breakdown.
The position is based in Austin, TX and the role will be in-person at St. David’s Performance Center.

You Will:
- Film First Team training sessions using the drone and Spiideo; and
- Film all First Team matches, Home and Away. Ability to live code using Hudl Sportscode is essential; and
- Travel as required for matches and additional camps, such as preseason; and
- Assist with individual player and team presentations from training and match footage; and
- Assist with creating a video catalog demonstrating game model, principles of play and player profiles; and
- Have a high-level working knowledge of Hudl Pro Suite and Coach Paint to assist in opposition analysis and presentations; and
- Assist Technical Staff with day-to-day video presentations through Keynote and Hudl Sportscode; and
- Carry out ad-hoc tasks as directed by Head of Video Performance, Technical Staff and Sporting Director; and
- Assist with the vertical integration of analysis processes through Austin FC II and Austin FC Academy.
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with Wyscout, Hudl, Sportscode and Coach Paint
- Preferred experience working for a professional sports team
- Preferred experience operating a drone
- Strong communication skills, both orally and written, with diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Keynote, Microsoft applications, knowledge of current technologies and commitment to remain up to date with industry best practices.
- Strong work ethic with an eye for detail
