What are the responsibilities and job description for the Triage Specialists (LVN or MA) position at Austin Gastroenterology?
Austin Gastroenterology is currently searching for LVNs (Licensed Vocational Nurses) or Medical Assistants to join our team of triage professionals at our North Austin/Round Rock locations.
As a Triage team member, you will be responsible for facilitating communication between providers and patients in between office visits, returning patient phone calls pertaining to results, illness and/or medications, scheduling follow up appointments as needed, processing prescription refill requests appropriately and providing basic information for patients.
We are looking for candidates interested in a fast paced environment, that can balance a high volume of work with quality, patient-focused care. The following skills are also required:
- Excellent customer service abilities, time-management skills, and verbal and written communication
- Superior critical thinking and problem solving skills; superb nursing skills in patient care
- Must work well with providers and fellow triage staff
- Must be able to handle sensitive information, and pay close attention to detail
- Ability to multitask is key
We prefer candidates with previous experience using EHR software and performing telephonic triage duties.
Telecommuting is available for this position once a candidate has successfully onboarded and shown independent competency for 6 months.
