We are currently seeking a Crew Member to work with our experienced and professional team. This teammate will be instrumental in the safe and reliable handling of explosives in all aspects of storage, readying for transport and working with the Location Manager or Blaster in Charge in the handling of our products at our local distribution center or at a customer blast site.
As a Crew Member you will quickly learn all aspects of safely handling explosives as you take inventory, load, unload, and move product around our local distribution center or customer job site. You will be part of a team completing the workload for utilizing our products in a safe and effective process.
We have programs in place for motivated Crew Members that, once eligible, you can work toward a CDL position with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CREW MEMBER
Safety is always priority in every work function.
This position involves working in the great outdoors in all-weather conditions, lifting and carrying approximately 50 pounds and doing a variety of hands-on physical tasks.
In this position you will be exposed to many aspects related to drilling and blasting, expanding your knowledge and providing the potential to advance your career with Austin Powder Company.
This position includes working to complete required tasks at the Austin Powder location, as well as customer sites as needed under the direction of the Location Manager and/or Blaster in charge
- Duties to include, complying with all regulatory requirements and company policies for providing labor support on job sites under direction of the Blaster in Charge
- Assisting as needed with the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location under the direction of the Location manager and/or Location Foreman
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THE CREW MEMBER OPPORTUNITY:
- Minimum of 18-years of age
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Physical ability to load and unload and lift 40 - 60 lbs. on a regular basis
- Strong team-working skills
- Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply and divide) to count inventory, verify how many detonators and boosters have been utilized (pre- and post-shot), and calculating how many boxes of detonators and boosters are needed to load the shot.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as SDS, product information, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Also, must be able to learn to identify products by classification through visible inspection.
- Must meet requirements of all State and Federal explosive laws and qualify as an ATF explosive possessor
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work non-traditional hours (generally starting early)
